Prostitutes and their real life

Who is prostitute and what is prostitution?

According to Longman Dictionary of American English, prostitute means someone who has sex with people to earn money and prostitution means the work of prostitutes.

Prostitute and the job prostitution are the most disregarded work is our society.

Now the question is why they do this and what is people’s reaction?

People think that who are prostitutes, their character is not good that’s why they do prostitution.

What are the real reasons behind this?

I know about a woman named Rejina who is a prostitute. She is married. She has a son of one year. Her husband is very sick and can’t work. They are very poor and have no asset to run their family. They stay in a small room in a slam which is rented. She is illiterate and has no jab also. How she will maintain everything including husband’s medicine, milk for son, food, and cloths etc. Then she becomes a prostitute. She is ready to have sex with people by whatever they will give. Sometimes she gets only 20 taka. Almost whole night she walks on the street to get customer. In the morning she returns home with medicine, food and milk. Her husband also knows that, but he has nothing to do. This is their life. Everyone says she is a bad woman.

After reading the novel Chanda’s Secrets from chapter 1 to 24, we learned about Esther that she is a whore. Her job is prostitution.

But what are the reasons behind her of being a whore?

Esther is an orphan girl who has only two siblings. She has no house, money or security. Her parents are dead of AIDS. After her parent died her uncles and aunties came and talk to them about taking their responsibility. They decided to make them separate. Then three brothers and sisters are in three places, they were not happy and crying for each other as they were tortured. Esther was the eldest among them. So, she has to do something to get her family again together. She has to make a lot of money in a short time for the betterment of her brother and sister. She chooses the profession of a whore/prostitute.

This is the real situation. People just blame her for her job but not ready to understand what the reality is. They didn’t come forward to help her.

Now what will you say about Esther and Rejina? Probably you will also agree with all those people. May be you will also sing with others in the same rhythm that they are ghastly women of our society. Won’t you?

Chanda’s Secret: A Mirror Image of Bangladesh’s Poor Society

Chanda’s Secret by Allan Stratton is a story about a dystopian society where everybody live in misery. The protagonist Chanda live in a poor society where most of the people live in the risk of AIDS. Chanda’s society don’t take it normally. They think that its for misdeed and misfortune. They shun the people who have AIDS. They don’t go to any medical institute for cure or prevention.

Chanda’s society is same as Bangladesh’s society. People live in a miserable life. Most of the people live below economy level and they can’t even able to buy everyday food. In cities most uneducated people live in slums AIDS spreads mostly by uneducated people. Most of the people can not bear family expenses, so they can not get education. As a result they become unaware about AIDS. In poor society there is no security for women. They suffer in harassment by men. Mostly widower and orphan girls suffer in harassment. Sometimes these women get raped by the men in their society and after that nobody accept them in their society. Some girl commit suicide and  some girl had to have to choose prostitution as a job to earn their daily food to live. However, most of the people don’t want to use protection. As a result this prostitute girls get AIDS and spread it to others. That is how people in our poor society are getting AIDS and for this disease people mostly blame women. There are some more way people get AIDS in our society. As example, by exchanging blood with affected person, using affected syringe and form affected mothers to baby.

These reason can broke in an epidemic form in our country, if people don’t take proper steps to prevent it. If people don’t get aware as soon as possible then this whole country will turn into Chanda’s society.

The Terrible Results of Having AIDS

AIDS is such a disease which doesn’t have any cure. The person who has AIDS will definitely die as well as having neglected by the society. Many people have been getting miserable death for this disease. I want to tell a miserable death story of a person named Abdul Kader who has lived in my village. He was well-known in my village for being honest. He had his family including his wife and two children. One day he went to South Africa for earning money. He has been staying there for many years. After passing 3 years he has come to meet with his family. They were so much happy being together. After few days his wife noticed that he had always got coughing and little fever. First of all they thought that he had malaria. His wife then took him immediately to the health center. The doctor tested his blood and checked up his full body. After two days, they again went to meet the doctor to see his reports. Then they were informed that he got AIDS. They were crying to hear this news. Then he felt guilty and started to talk with his wife about what he did in South Africa. He told her that he had made physical relation with lots of prostitute. Some of them might have the AIDS virus which has entered to his body during biological relation. After hearing this event his wife started to hate him and decided to leave him. When his wife and children left him, he started to leave in his house alone. Gradually the people of my village have known what was happen to Kader. The village people started to avoid him. He started to live in his home and couldn’t go outside. Little by little his body was affected by various kinds of diseases. Nobody came to see him. No one gave any food to eat. Without having food he became wicker and thinner day by day. He had gangrene all over his body. The fly and mosquitoes flied over his body. At last one month he got a miserable death without seeing anybody. No one came to take his dead body. After two days of his death, some people took his body to the medical center. He was so unlucky that he didn’t get any sand after his death. In my opinion, this kind of death is the most terrible death by having the hate of family members. I think after reading this story people will concern to avoid AIDS virus because every one want a good death, but not a terrible death like Kader.

The Worst Life

There are many poor people, physical awkward persons, and street children in our society who are mostly at risk of crime, AIDS, drugs addicted, and so on. Why do they commit to crime, affect by AIDS, addict by drugs, go to prostitute, and so on? They are bearing a very miserable life because of poverty, lack of education, lack of shelter, lack of food, cloth, treatment, and so on. To get risk of miserable life, they commit to corruption such as they take drug to get rid of hungry; they go to prostitution for earning money; they use same syringe for drug because they do not have much money to buy new syringe. They are going to bad way because their poverty is forcing them. As they are illiterate, they do not know what the best or worst thing about their life is. We can see here that the reason of doing crime, taking drugs, being illiterate, and having AIDS is only their poverty. Additionally, sometimes, lack of affection and love, people commit to crime. As example, some children have step parents, and they do not get proper affection and love from their parents, so they make friendship with bad boys. Because of having bad companionship, those children commit to crime. In the novel Chanda’s Secret, Esther has no parents, and she has no family and has to depend on her uncle, but her uncle always treats her. As a result, she chooses prostitution to get a family with love and affection. Like Esther, there are many people who are going to commit to corruption.

We can save these people from corruption by increasing our awareness. Including these social and physical awkward people, we all are made by God. First thing is that we should not hate and ignore them. Our government should give attention to them too. If parents become conscious about their children’s life, we can reduce child corruption. Additionally, if our government takes the responsibilities of street children by giving their shelter, education, and so on, we can save these children from taking drugs, going prostitution, committing crimes. Furthermore, we have to concern our population about the harmful of HIV virus and AIDS disease and train them about the protection of AIDS. If we work together with government of to save the people from the worst life, I hope, one day this world will be crimeless and AIDS free country.

AIDS an incurable disease

AIDS is considered one of the highest health threats in the world today. It is one of the world’s most terrible and terrifying diseases. Anyone can get this disease whether its men, women, child, and an old. This disease is caused by a virus named HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). AIDS is a major failure of the body’s immune system. This decreases the body’s ability to fight against infections such as tuberculosis, cancer, cholera, plague, chicken pox etc. According to the recent research HIV first generated from chimpanzees to humans during the early 1675. It hasn’t been discovered by mid 20th century. AIDS stands for Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome is a viral infection that is developed in the last stage of HIV. This virus is even invisible to a microscope and can remain in die body for years together without showing any visible symptoms. It takes at least 10 years of period between getting infected with HIV and reaching the stage of developing AIDS.

AIDS mainly spreads through a sexual relationship, blood to blood transfusion, use of infected syringes or needles and from mother to a baby. Moreover, there is stigma all over the world that AIDS can be spread by touching each other, hugging or keeping in contact with an infected person that is why people avoid AIDS patients as much as they can.  We can see that stigma in every society of every country. In some places it is considered as taboo to even discuss about it. The patients have to suffer very miserable life because everybody will start to avoid them and look down on them. They are also more likely to be kicked out if their jobs, families and turned down everywhere.

There are two tests to confirm HIV infection. ELISA is the simple way to confirm and also results can be known in few hours and WESTERN BLOT is a bit complicated compared to ELISA because it is expensive and time consuming. Even though there is no medicine to cure this deadly disease people can be made more conscious about it by spreading awareness and educating them. Our government have to take some steps to cure this disease from spreading it too fast. They should create more awareness programs and pay extra attention towards the AIDS patients and encourage them live their life as much as they could. People can be encouraged to have safe sex and have their checkups more often than they used to have.

As we all know the quote “Prevention is better than cure”.

“Envy Has Made Roshni’s Life Tentative”

I know things are going out of control. Every night I have nightmares and I feel vey scared. I don’t feel secure anywhere. I had lots of dream to be educated, to be successful, but…

One day in the shopping mall, I met one of my old friends named Badhon. I was very pleased to meet her after a long time. She also expressed her happiness when she learned about my marriage after two months and after that I would go abroad for higher education. One day she offered me about a get togather party. She also told me that she will call my other old friends. I was very very glad to know that I had got a chance to meet with my old friend. At that time, I was so busy with my staff that I didn’t become aware of inquiry about that program.

The previous night of the program, Badhon told me that the program will be over night, so I have to stay in her apartment. I told her, “I don’t think I can stay over night, but I can seek permission from my parents.” She earnestly requested me to manage my parents for one night. I somehow convinced my Mom, and she managed Dad.
When I went to Badhon’s apartment, I saw only a few of her friends. I greeted them. We had snacks, and we were gossiping . Every half an hour passed and I asked Badhon when my other friends will come. She replied every time, “You know there is traffic jam in busy roads, so we should wait for them.” After that she brought juice for me and I drank it, but its taste was somewhat different. After a few moment I felt sleepy. After that I couldn’t remember anything…
In the morning, I found myself undressed in the bed. I was shocked and crying. What was happened last night? I could remember a little that some boys spoiled me. I returned to my home, but after one month I had serious fever. When I did blood test I was totally shaken because I had HIV positive!
My friend and her friends had HIV positive and they were blemishing other innocent people’s life who were having a natural life. I couldn’t get married and couldn’t go abroad. Now I’m counting the last day of my life. Because of badhon’s envy, my life has ruined.

HIV/AIDS stigma and result

Socially, stigma means a distinguishing mark of social disgrace. Generally people try to avoid all stigmas since sometimes it is the reason of shame, disrespect, and even the cause of life threat.  In present world a common social stigma is HIV/AIDS.

Some issues put in AIDS to become stigma.

  • HIV/AIDS is a life-threatening disease, and therefore people react to it in strong ways.
  • HIV infection is associated with some specific behaviors,
like as homosexuality, drug addiction, and prostitution which are already stigmatized in many societies.
  • Inaccurate information about the transmitting of HIV
    also creates stigma.
  • Religious or moral beliefs lead sometimes to believe
that being infected with HIV is the result of moral fault.

Above all information from (http://www.avert.org/hiv-aids-stigma.htm#contentTable0) are some particular causes for HIV/AIDS to become social stigma.

However, the result of this disgrace is awful. Most of the time people stay away from the affected persons and hate them. People start to suspect the patients very deficiently. Socially the whole family reviled, sometimes their own relatives blame them with all inaccurate and superstitious conversations. I watched a shot film about AIDS. Although it was a TV program, the facts behind it was a very good example of the social stigma about AIDS. It was about a happy family
of three people. Husband, wife, and one child, but one day husband had an accident. He was badly injured and because of that he an operation in his body. Thus, he received blood in his body. After five year doctor discovered HIV virus in his wife’s body. His wife became badly sick, but her neighbors made her sicker. Somehow the news about her diseases spread in the vicinity and people started to hate her, even her family. Her only child could not play with others because
all children and their parents avoided the child. One day all the neighbors came in front of their house and started shouting that the woman is a prostitute and they will not let her buried in the pure land after her death.

It was a short film, so to make a happy ending there a doctor came. He made those people clear disease and its transmitting and the real story about her husband’s accident, so they help the family at last.

However, in reality tis ending is rare, most of the time AIDS patients die with great heartache. Sometimes they forced to believe that it is the punishment of their sins. no one wants to talk about it and pathetically some countries make it as taboo subject. Thus, people doo not get correct information.

It is now twenty-first century, so we must discard the stigma. Since, it makes us flimsier, so we should associate and exhibit our helping hand towards the helpless people and break the ice.

Why It Is Hard to Find Medicine for AIDS?

AIDS: The most dangerous word I ever heard in my life has caught more 33 billion people’s lives. Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is the abbreviation of this dangerous disease. As the abbreviation gives idea about the disease AIDS is related with human immune system. Immune system is an utter most important system in our body. Whenever we got disease, white cells of the immune system react and destroy the infection. AIDS virus affects to the immune system and diminishes its activation. As a result of this, AIDS positive people easily caught by other diseases and die. Although the world has gone so far through the technology, still no one could find the exact medicine for AIDS. There are some methods to prevent AIDS, but no medicine for totally recover. According to the scientists who have done researches they found the virus which causes to the AIDS. The virus is called Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). So far, antiretroviral treatment is the best treatment for AIDS. This does not totally recover AIDS, but can delay illness for many years. The structure of the virus is the main reason that no one can find the medicine. As other cells this cell also includes RNA. Therefore, RNA makes new copies of the cell itself and mostly a type known as CD4 cells. Normally, the infected cell produce copious amount of new cells. Soon after the cell make new cells, the mother cell dies. All infected cells do not behave in the same way. Therefore the medicine we are given is not suits for the virus at the moment we are taking medicine. It changes minute by minute. That is why no one can find the medicine. Whenever the scientists can guess one specific type will be the next CD4 cell, they can find the medicine for HIV. For further understanding, you can study this drawing.

Explanation 01

Treatment suits to the virus and can be combining. Therefore, the treatment can work against the virus as it is combining to the virus.

Explanation 02

The treatment does not suit to the virus. Therefore, the treatment cannot combine to the virus successfully as virus has changed. As a result of this, the treatment cannot work against the virus.

The thing that happens in HIV medicine is similar to explanation 02. The medicine is given to specific infected cell, but when the medicine reacts the structure of the virus is different.

However, the day that scientist can find the exact medicine; will probably be the day that whole world cheer together.

How does AIDS develop and how will it reduce?

AIDS stands for “acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.”It is a viral disease cause by HIV which affects the immune system in human body. As we know that the immune system helps protect us from infection. If once immune system destroys in human body than it is really very hard to stay alive. AIDS is the global issue. However, the numbers of cases are growing in most part of the world.  All over the world 33 million people are currently suffering from HIV and 1.8 million people died. Furthermore, ADI’s have spread worldwide, but in Africa 1.8 million people are suffering from AIDS today (“U.S. Global Health Policy”).  HIV/AIDS is a major challenge in Africa which is very Common disease due to having sex with multiple of people, by overuse of syringes and by blood transmission. There are many ways to get AIDS. By sharing needles to inject drugs is another way that HIV can be passed to other people, newborn babies are at risk of getting the HIV virus from their mothers if they’re infected of AIDS and by sexual transmission.

There are some serious causes why people got AIDS? The first cause can be like that people did not get enough information about illness like AIDS from their parents and elders or maybe they got shy to talk about sex with their son, daughter and sisters. In other words, people do not have awareness about Aids. The second apparent cause in my opinion is that may be people knew about AIDS, but they decide to have sex without condom and they did not have conscience, as result many people died. If people with AIDS want to reduced this viral disease they should place more school everywhere to aware people then they will have enough knowledge about different disease. As we know many people are using drugs which are very harm full but people are injects themselves by needles. If people control to inject needle the AIDS will gradually decrease. The second Solution that can be done for this serious disease people may use condom while having sex. The final solution in my opinion is that government should take AIDS as a serious disease to save many lives of people and should  arrange many awareness programs for all kind of people because mostly many poor and slaves people are suffering from AIDS in whole world.
